چکیده
This paper presents the results of three dimensional finite element analysis laterally loaded pile groups configuration 1×1, 2×1 and 3×1, embedded in two-layered soil consisting soft clay at liquid limit overlying dense sand using Plaxis 3D. Effects variation length (L) layer thickness (h) on lateral capacity bending moment profile foundations were evaluated by employing different values to diameter ratio (L/D) (h/L) analysis. Obtained indicated that reduces non-linearly with increase thickness. Larger decrease was observed group piles. A non-dimensional parameter Fx defined compare layered sand, for which a generalized expression derived terms h/L number piles group. Group effect resistance maximum become insignificant exceeding 40% length. For fixed value thickness, single increased significantly only up an optimum embedment depth found be equal times 0.21 L/D 15. Scale has also been studied discussed. Laterally loaded rigid piles in cohesionless soil
In this paper, limiting force profile for laterally loaded rigid piles in sand and is differentiated from the on-pile force profile, from which elastic-plastic solutions are established and presented in explicity expressioins. Nonlinear responses of the piles are characterized by slip depths mobilized from mudline and the pile-tip. At the states of tip-yield and rotation point yield, expression...
متن کاملCentrifuge modelling of sand compaction piles in soft clay under embankment load
Sand compaction piles are used in practice for ground improvement of soft subsoil in order to accelerate consolidation, reduce compressibility, and increase strength. The current design procedure of sand compaction piles is based on simple empirical calculations, which does not take full account of the sand pile behaviour. This research project investigates the behaviour of a base reinforced em...
متن کاملDevelopment of p-y Curves of Laterally Loaded Piles in Cohesionless Soil
The research on damages of structures that are supported by deep foundations has been quite intensive in the past decade. Kinematic interaction in soil-pile interaction is evaluated based on the p-y curve approach. Existing p-y curves have considered the effects of relative density on soil-pile interaction in sandy soil. The roughness influence of the surface wall pile on p-y curves has not bee...
متن کاملA Continuum-Based Model for Analysis of Laterally Loaded Piles in Layered Soils
An analysis is developed to calculate the response of laterally loaded piles in multilayered elastic media. The displacement fields in the analysis are taken to be the products of independent functions that vary in the vertical , radial and circumferential directions. The governing differential equations for the pile deflections in different soil layers are obtained using the principle of minim...
متن کاملDevelopment of Shaft Friction on Driven Piles in Sand and Clay
Despite widespread research effort in recent years, design methods to estimate the shaft resistance of displacement piles continue to rely heavily upon empirical correlations. In an attempt to achieve a more reliable design approach several researchers have assembled databases of instrumented pile load tests and used these to propose new design methods e.g. American Petroleum Institute (API-200...
